The New England Patriots Released Cam Newton this morning after Newton was sidelined due to Health and Safety Protocols. The team grew even more frustrated with the former MVP due to this.
Heading into this season it was apparent that the Patriots were looking toward a plan that didn’t involve Newton as the Patriots picked Mac Jones in the first round of the NFL Draft. Needless to say it was weird offering Newton a contract when New England was going in a different direction.
During an interview with the “Players Tribune” Newton expressed his interest in being a part of the Patriots for the foreseeable future. Unfortunately we will never see that happen.
Through three pre-season games Mac Jones led the Patriots to a 3-0 record posting a 69% C/ATT on 129.6 yards. It’s clear the new beginning for New England football starts with Mac Jones
