Did anyone see the Charlotte Hornets coming? Signing Gordon Hayward to a 4-yr/$120m is something that Hayward’s camp has been looking forward to for a while now. Boston didn’t get it done, and they couldn’t seem to get a deal done with Indiana. Charlotte for the win!
Hayward comes off last season missing 111 games and it’s leaving people wondering about his contract. Throughout his time in Boston, his role fluctuated, forcing him to accept coming off the bench. From that point on, things got weird. He didn’t fit Boston’s system, and he wanted a max contract.
Charlotte now adds Hayward to a mix of young studs in LaMelo Ball, PJ Washington, Miles Bridges, etc. Was he worth $120m? Probably not, but Charlotte had money to spend and got themselves a scorer at the end of the day.
Owner Michael Jordan is doing his job now and is finally putting this team into playoff contention. Do you like this signing? Let us know !
