Goran Dragic Resigns In Miami: 2 Year Deal, Says AP

Slovenian combo guard Goran Dragic recently announced via twitter that he intends on staying with the Miami Heat for the foreseeable future.

What does Goran Dragic’s Resigning Mean for the Heat?

Goran Dragic will be entering his 13th year in the league and 6th year with Miami. He is a vital role player and role model for the Heat, graciously accepting an off the bench role this past year. Averaging 16.2ppg/3.2rpg/5.1apg in 2019-20, the 34 year old has not shown signs of slowing down.

Miami is committing near 40 million to Goran Dragic until 2022, and this shows how championship-minded they are right now. After a surprise playoff run last season, they clearly intend to keep their solid core together. Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo have room to grow, and Jimmy Butler is in his prime. Players like Jae Crowder, Kendrick Nunn and Duncan Robinson are starter quality players that played meaningful minutes last year. After drafting Precious Achiuwa, who the Heat were lucky to have fallen in their lap, they look deep as ever. Barring injuries, Miami may be dangerous come next season.
