NBA Playoff X-Factors – East

Who’s willing to put their body on the line to win a playoff game? To do the dirty work? These are the Eastern Conference X-factors.

Philadelphia 76ers

43-30, 6th in East
Season: 39-26
Bubble: 4-4

Sean: Shake Milton

  • Without Ben Simmons, this is Joel Embiid’s team through and through. The Sixers are huge in the frontcourt with Embiid, Horford and Harris. However, it’s their guard play that will need to be elite if they are going to make any noise.
  • Shake Milton has stepped up when called upon all season and he will need to be even better in the playoffs. He’ll get his opportunities and he’s going to have to capitalize in a big way. If he can get hot from the outside and provide a consistent source of scoring and spacing for Embiid, the Sixers could make some noise.

James: Josh Richardson

  • When you look at how the Sixers season is playing out, Josh Richardson is the best thing going for them. With Embiid and Simmons facing injuries they are in a tight situation. Richardson has the capability to win you one game just by his performance alone.
  • I’m not a Sixers fanatic, but Richardson thrives when the ball is in his hands and what better way to test the waters than right now? A 34% three point shooter who sees 43% when in the mid range. I can see a few sets and plays run specifically for him. I’ll be surprised if he isn’t an important part of the game plan moving forward for the Sixers.
