When Will The Criticism Set In For Giannis Antetokounmpo?

Giannis is in his 7th season with the Bucks and has yet to touch an NBA Finals. We consider him one of the greatest players in the world if not the player who is “next up” after LeBron, but he hasn’t received half the criticism LeBron faced.

Giannis has managed to make himself a world wide star in a matter of Four years as his first three seasons were subpar at best. Once he got his legs under him, gained more muscle, and controlled his moves to the rim it was all uphill from there.

The Conversation

I believe we have been giving Giannis a pass as the end goal in any season is winning a championship. He has the accolades, he is proving that he can lead a team, and even turned a franchise around.

Currently in his seventh season as it is set to restart on July 31st is an important one for Giannis. If he doesn’t win a championship this year the critics will come out with their heaviest jabs. Giannis is an unbelievable player, but does he have the will power to win it all?

2019-20 Season

Averaging career high numbers in points and rebounds this season (29.6 ppg 13.7 rpg), Giannis is improving in every aspect of the game. He leads the Bucks in points, rebounds, assists, and field goal percentage, and It is clear that he carries the weight of this franchise.

Heading into the post season Giannis is notorious for not being able to extend his range, but they’ve managed to build a team full of shooters to surround him. Giannis’ playoff resume isn’t the best, and when you look closely he’s been the dominating force behind any success in the post season. Only problem he faces is not being able to get over the hump and compete in an NBA Finals.

With the Bucks being the favorite to make the finals this season, while the pressure builds up; can Giannis lead this team to a finals? It’s the question everyone hesitates to ask, but why? The critics need to dial in as it is only necessary when you look at his career from a distance.

If the Bucks don’t win the title this year do we start to make the same assumptions we did for LeBron? Do we start to question his ability to lead a franchise? Do we even consider him to jump ship? The many questions marks that hang in the balance that are waiting to be answered after this season.

Let’s debate !
