An Ortiz/Tyson Fight Is What We All Need

It’s been a while since a fight has really caught the attention of millions. For UFC legend Tito Ortiz he said that he has an offer to fight boxing guru Mike Tyson. A fight that could blow Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor numbers out of the water.

Tale of the Tape!

Ortiz is expressing interest in being Tyson’s opponent as he told TMZ “I got a phone call and someone started asking me, ‘What do you think about fighting Mike Tyson?’ “I was like, ‘Really?’ This is an opportunity that I like. I’m in.’ “I’m not sure if it’s going to be MMA or boxing yet.

“I haven’t even gotten that far. We both have got to be cleared by the athletic commissions. That’s the biggest thing”.

Pairing up against Tyson, Ortiz sees a 21-12 MMA record followed by 10 knockouts. His biggest claim to fame was when he maintained the Light Heavyweight Championship title for three years (April 14t, 2000-September, 26th, 2003). The fact that Ortiz didn’t even hesitate with a decision on this fight tells me that there’s a high possibility that this will happen.

Tyson sizes up his opponent

Tyson who is 53, has been better than ever as he’s been putting in the work consistently throughout this process. His initial goal is to fight a few exhibition matches for charity to get back into shape. Tyson flat out misses being in the ring, and others are watching. On the contrary, Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship offered Tyson $20m to fight a single match with that number only getting higher as time moves forward with more incentives. The immediate response was no, but BKFC shows no signs of giving up on Tyson.

The 53 year old former heavyweight champion saw his last fight in 2005 and a 50-6 record to accompany him, but the biggest question is if he wants to commit. The man hasn’t lost a fight since 1990, so confidence is definitely not an issue.

Could we see a potential Ortiz/Tyson fight? Let’s keep our fingers crossed!
